This Bouldin Creek project in Austin, Texas demonstrates how disciplined landscape construction and custom steel fabrication can be combined to enhance privacy, functionality, and architectural presence. Praetorian Landscaping managed the full site build, executing drainage upgrades, structural steelwork, landscape planting, and irrigation installation to create an outdoor environment that is both refined and durable.
Located in the highly walkable Bouldin Creek neighborhood of Austin, this residence required a thoughtful approach to landscape performance, privacy, and aesthetic coherence. Working with the architectural vision developed by Open Envelope Studio, Praetorian Landscaping executed the construction scope with attention to detail at every phase.
Before installing visible elements, we addressed foundational site conditions to ensure long-term performance. This included demolition of existing features, precise grading, and drainage improvements to support consistent functionality through wet and dry seasons typical of Central Texas.

A key feature of this project was the comprehensive use of custom structural steelwork to define spaces and provide permanence.
Highlights include:
These elements work together to create a modern, cohesive landscape language that complements the home’s architecture.
To balance the strong presence of steel, we installed extensive plantings throughout the front and backyard. Live oaks, cedars, Arizona cypress, and magnolias were placed strategically to provide privacy, texture, and long-term growth potential. A new irrigation system was also installed to support these plantings and ensure their health and vigor year-round.
This project highlights Praetorian Landscaping’s ability to integrate:
The result is a landscape that feels private, purposeful, and harmonized with both its environment and the homeowners’ lifestyle.
